During the past twenty-seven years, about two hundred garbage crematories have been installed by different cities and towns in this country, yet it was not until 1909 that comprehensive, scientific tests of this general type of incinerator by an unbiased authority became available. Table No. 1 summarizes some features of the extensive observations made by the Engineers of the Ohio State Board of Health on four types of garbage crematories:
