House of Griffins ruled Pomerania for about 600 years; their dynastic policy provided integrity and security to the Duchy of Pomerania, against foreign expansion, especially against Brandenburg. Contracted marriages clinched the alliances and agreements between states. Family connections, study, residence at regional courts, travelling of Pomeranian dukes, significantly influenced architecture and art of Western Pomerania since time of Bogislaw X.
