Big Data is high-volume, high-velocity, and high-variety information assets that demand cost-effective, innovative forms of information processing for enhanced insight and decision making.  The governments in developing countries need to start using nontraditional data sources to make informed decisions which will have impact on people’s lives and value chains of different sectors. This article is a descriptive study to critique big data usage in agriculture in East Africa.
