The European Succession Regulation 650/2012 of July 12, 2012 includes a set of advanced solutions that help to build the European judicial area. In this context, the European Succession Regulation enhances the role of notaries from different points of view. European free movement of wills and other public documents issued by notaries, the choice of law made by the deceased person, the principle of free choice of notary, and the European Certificate of Succession are just some examples of the growing confidence that the European Succession Regulation has in notaries.
