The objective of this study was to characterize and compare the anatomy of roots, stem and branches wood of eight species of native and exotic trees present in the urban arborization of the State of São Paulo. The study provides an understanding of the physical-mechanical anatomical properties that are essential for the understanding trees ́ resistance to external stresses, allowing a more accurate diagnosis of the condition of the tree.
