ENDOTHELIAL MODULATION DURING OROPOUCHE VIRUS INFECTION Pierina L. Parise*, Guilherme P. Milanez, Daniel A. T. Teixeira, Mariene R. Amorin, Felipe R. Santos, Carla C. Judice, Rosemeire F. Paula, Fabio T. M. Costa, Marco A. R. Vinolo, José L. P. Modena Abstract In this project we showed that Oropouche vírus (OROV) productively infect human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVEC). In addition, we demonstrated that this virus modulates the production of vasoactive cytokines, such as TNF-α and IL-6, and endothelial adhesion molecules, such as ICAM-1, e-selectin and eNOS. These data bring new insights how OROV can cross the blood-placental barrier.
