The article studies the role and importance of the production and marketing of quinoa in the international market, due to the immense possibilities of processing it into finished products and the benefits offered by this crop. In the light of theoretical references such as competitiveness and competitive advantages, it was possible to carry out a descriptive study which evidenced the importance of this issue in exports realized mainly by countries like Bolivia and Peru, and imports from the EU and Asia. Thus, Andean countries could play an important role if they take advantage of their traditions and turn them into business and welfare opportunities for the world population.
