The articles presented in this special issue advance the conversation by describing the current efforts, findings and concerns related to Big Data and health disparities. We hope that ongoing Big Data efforts can build on these contributions to advance the conversation, address our embedded assumptions, and identify levers for action to reduce health care disparities.
