The FeCl 3 /eggshell has been a new and efficient catalyst for the rapid and simple synthesis of 2,3-dihydroquinazolin-4-ones in ethanol at room temperature. The present method has advantages of low cost, mild reaction conditions, simple workup process, better recovery and reusability of catalyst, excellent yields and environmentally friendly procedure.
