In order to determine the nutrition load in the Sea of Marmara, sampling was realized on appointed 25 stations, at standard vertical sections from the surface to the deepest point of the station, bi-annually between 2010 and 2013. NO 2 –N, NO 3 –N, NH 4 –N, and PO 4 –P were analysed from unfiltered water samples; in addition, some physicochemical parameters that play important roles, such as salinity, temperature, dissolved oxygen, and pH, were measured for each station. This study reports on nutrients load in the Sea of Marmara for a preliminary assessment of the status of these nutrients and a brief discussion about the unique oceanographical status of the Sea of Marmara.
