British Army in Sinai and Palestine Front: Organization and Personnel The British army deployed the most number of its personnel in Sinai and Palestine Front after the Western Front in France in the First World War. Until the shift of units to France and Belgium in the period April-August 1918, Egyptian Expeditionary Force, as the mission force of this army in Sinai and Palestine Front, mostly consisted of soldiers from Australia and New Zealand and soldiers of the Territorial Force. General Edmund Allenby, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Expeditionary Force, had to shift 60.000 soldiers to Western Front due to the extra need. Thus, in the summer of 1918, Egyptian Expeditionary Force became a multinational and multicultural army after the reinforcement with the soldiers from various regions and countries of the world mainly from India- instead of the shifted soldiers
