Crocus pestalozzae Boiss., Crocus biflorus Miller subsp. biflorus , Crocus flavus Weston subsp flavus Crocus olivieri J. Gay subsp. istanbulensis B. Mathew, Crocus pulchellus Herb., Crocus speciosus M.Bieb. subsp. ibrahimii Ruksāns; Istanbul ili sinirlari icinde antropojenik baskiya maruz kalan taksonlaridr. Bu taksonlarin guncel durumlari hakkindaki bilgiler 1999-2015 yillari arasinda yapilan arazi calismalarina ve gozlemlere dayanmaktadir. Ozellikle Crocus olivieri J. Gay subsp. istanbulensis taksonunun yayilis alaninin son derece sinirli ve baski altinda oldugu tespit edilmistir. Istanbul kenti bitkileri ve dogal yasam alanlariyla ozel ve cekicidir. Bu nedenle kentte yasayan insanlari bilinclendirmek, Turkce yayinlarla bilgi duzeyini yukselterek farkindalik yaratmak yerinde olacaktir. A Study on Crocus L. (Iridaceae) taxa, distributed in Istanbul Crocus L. (Iridaceae) is a geophyte genus, which is one of the richest taxa in terms of the number in Turkey. Natural systematics of the genus began to emerge in the light of day with using molecular methods and the relationships between the taxa are to be seen clearly. As well as molecular studies, building the new roads made accessible the new species. Moreover, the increasing number of live collections (e.g Istanbul University Alfred Heilbronn Botanical Garden collection) helped this issue. Today, the total number of the taxa exceeded 160. However, the newly built roads and the resulting energy deficit due to increasing population off work, unfortunately, threat a large percentage of these rare and endemic plants. Undoubtedly Istanbul province is the province where most numerous of these threats. In this study, we gave information about the current status of Crocus taxa in Istanbul, without entering into detailed morphological data. These taxa are Crocus pestalozzae Boiss., Crocus biflorus Miller subsp. biflorus , Crocus flavus Weston subsp flavus Crocus olivieri J. Gay subsp. istanbulensis B. Mathew, Crocus pulchellus Herb., Crocus speciosus M.Bieb. subsp. ibrahimii Ruksāns. This information is based on field works and observations made between 1999 and 2015. Especially Crocus olivieri J. Gay subsp. istanbulensis of extremely limited distribution area, have been found to be under pressure. The city of Istanbul is unique with its attractive plants and natural habitats. Raising the awareness of people living in the city with Turkish publications is extremely important for the future of the observed taxa.
