In this study, carried out external training courses in creative writing exercise as a study of written composition, using creative writing techniques contributed to the writing skills of the students are examined. The development of writing skills compared with other language skills are a longer time. In the early years of elementary school listening, speaking, writing skills of writing with reading, although the start is observed cannot be brought to the desired level of study. Extracurricular interests and skills to develop themselves in the line of students in primary schools with the approval of Ministry of Education training activities are carried out. In this study, 6, 7 and 8th grade students in extracurricular composition written in creative writing exercises built as a literary work is intended to determine the contribution to the writing skills. This research aims to uncover the current situation is a descriptive study. Research was carried out on 20 students participating Creative Writing Exercise of the class 6,7 and 8 of Ankara Mamak 30 August Secondary School in 2013-2014 academic year. Data for the study were collected from compositions written using various techniques of creative writing exercises by students studying at the external course from November until the end of May. The data collected using traditional methods and techniques of creative writing written by students in the study evaluated according to the writing evaluation form, the composition of samples generated by creative writing techniques are included. At the end of the research it has been found that written compositions using creative writing techniques contribute more to the development of students' writing skills than traditional methods.
