AN EVALUATION ON THE MOBILE APPS DEVELOPED TO TEACH THE FOREIGNERS TURKISH

In this study, which aims to review mobile apps, that appear in the mobile app stores and are developed to teach foreigners Turkish, in terms of functionality, scope, method and medium of instruction; a total of 94 applications from App Store and Google Play are chosen and examined as samples by taking the data of usage of mobile operating systems into consideration. In the consequence of the review, it is observed that almost all of the apps are prepared by foreign developers and a notable proportion of them are prepared by regarding translation and ear-tongue habit methods. In the most of the apps, it is determined that the source language is used as the medium of instruction, the common speech patterns and words are provided through translation. As a result, it is found out that the apps promising the users an easy, quick, time and place independent language learning are in the status of temporary and partial function focused materials with their methods and contents in place.
