One of the key parameters in the processing system of a smart antenna system is the direction of arrival of the signal of interest (DOA). DOA’s estimation traditionally performed spectral analysis on the signal received by the antenna array. Considering that the smart antenna system is designed for an autonomous mobile user, such as a UAV, the processing system takes advantage of the navigation systems to estimate the direction of arrival of the source originated in his control station. With this information, we must develop an algorithm capable of providing intelligence to an antenna system using information from a GPS. It ensures that the antenna system is able to provide advanced functionality at low cost.
