Elizabeth Creamer, Virginia TechElizabeth Creamer is a Professor of Educational Research and Evaluation and Director ofResearch and Assessment for the ADVANCE VT project at Virginia Tech. She is the co-PI or PIof over $1.5 million in grants from the National Science Foundation that address issues ofwomen's under-representation in science and engineering. She teaches graduate courses in mixedmethods and qualitative research methods. Margaret Layne, Virginia TechMargaret (Peggy) Layne is the Director of the ADVANCE VT Project at Virginia Tech and adoctoral student in the Science and Technology Studies Program. Prior to coming to VirginiaTech, she spent two years as a fellow at the National Academy of Engineering, where shedirected the program on diversity in the engineering workforce. Ms. Layne also spent a year as anAAAS Congressional Fellow in the office of Senator Bob Graham (D-FL), where she wasresponsible for water, wastewater, and solid and hazardous waste policy issues. She has 17 yearsof environmental engineering experience, and was formerly a principal at Harding LawsonAssociates in Tallahassee, FL, where she managed the office and directed hazardous waste siteinvestigation and cleanup projects. Ms. Layne has degrees in environmental engineering fromVanderbilt University and the University of North Carolina School of Public Health. She servedas president of the Society of Women Engineers in 1996-97, and currently serves on theAmerican Society of Civil Engineers’ Energy Policy Committee. She is a registered professionalengineer in three states.
