Het seizoen 1908-1909 werd in Rotterdam gemarkeerd door de doorbraak van de vaste bioscooptheaters. Niet alleen in het centrum, maar ook in de periferie werden gebouwen ingericht om met grote regelmaat films te vertonen. Nieuwe sociale groepen gebruikten de bioscopen om zich te onderscheiden van andere. Maar wie gingen er negentig jaar geleden nu precies naar de film? En welk publiek naar welke bioscoop?
