Pain is a sensory and emotional unpleasant experience, which could experience all those living beings who have a central nervous system -CNS, is an experience associate to tissue injury or expressed as if it existed. In this review, new sources for obtaining various drugs to treat chronic pain of various pathologies isolated from marine animals (snails Conus genus) are presented. It is conotoxins isolated venoms of these animals, their therapeutic effect is a selective blockade calcium channel (Ca) type N, by which reduces the release of neurotransmitters pronociceptor in the dorsal horn of the spinal cord, inhibiting, thus pain impulse transmission. Different methodologies for obtaining these new drugs as well as a complete characterization of animals and other medical applications of isolated compounds were also indicated.
