Objective: Determine the quality of sleep disorders in the pediatric population aged 4-16 years diagnosed with epilepsy versus healthy children. Barranquilla, March to April 2015. Materials and methods: Analytical study of cases and controls with survey application SDSC in 25 patients with a diagnosis of epilepsy, in neuropediatrics outpatient; these were included as cases; also a matched number in terms of gender and age in the same school of each case, these are also applied with their parents SDSC survey was taken. Results: Disorders of sleep initiation and maintenance present in 32 % of cases compared with 12 % in controls, restless legs syndrome in 24 % of cases against 16 % in controls, sleep-disordered breathing in 32 % cases versus 12 % in controls, daytime excessive sleepiness was the chief complaint in cases with 44 % versus 16 % in controls. Conclusions: Pediatric patients with epilepsy, have a six times greater risk of developing some type of sleep disorder that pediatric population without epilepsy
