The article is devoted to such challenging issues as profession choice and self-realization, taking into account the specifics of the current stage of the Russian society development, requiring the ability for self-actualization, reflexivity, flexibility, the ability to operate in an ever-changing external environment, while maintaining the internal integrity. The paper widely represents theoretical analysis of the social and psychological issues of professional identity. It also discusses issues of psychological readiness to the profession choice reflected in the technological and motivational levels. Theoretical analysis reveals that in the early stages the profession guidance development in the domestic psychological research focused on the linear career development in particular once chosen profession, while the current conditions define the parameters when the development of self-actualized, independent and flexible persons able to realize themselves in various professional fields plays crucial role.
