A special pencil ionization chamber was evaluated to determine the influence of its components in its response, to standard diagnostic radiology beams. For this purpose, we used the Monte Carlo method and a standard diagnostic radiology spectrum (RQR5). The results showed that although this pencil ionization chamber has been made for computed tomography dosimetry, it can also be used for dosimetry in diagnostic radiology. This is due to the fact that there was no significant influence of the components of the ionization chamber in its response when it was irradiated with diagnostic radiology beams.
