At the current stage of development of the industry, composite nanostructure materials are widely used. Among them especially it should be noted materials containing metal borides and carbides TiB 2 /TiC and ZrB 2 /ZrC. In this work, the task of carrying out the full thermodynamic analysis of process of receiving titanium and zirconium borides and carbides, namely, in Ti–B–O–C and Zr–B–O–C systems and, based on this, experimental research on receiving nanostructured composite materials is set. Innovation of the work is studying of physical and chemical bases of high-temperature processes of receiving borides and carbides of specified systems that gives the opportunity to minimize number of experiments. The full thermodynamic analysis of the systems Ti–B–O–C and Zr–B–O–C was carried out in vacuum for reactions 2TiO 2 + B 2 O 3 + 8C = TiB 2 + TiC + 7CO and 2ZrO 2 + B 2 O 3 + 8C = ZrB 2 + ZrC + 7СО. The main results for both compositions are presented in the form of diagrams. On the basis of this analysis it is carried out experimental researches on receiving composite materials TiB 2 /TiC and ZrB 2 /ZrC. X-ray diffraction patterns of the obtained powders indicate that generally these are mixtures of TiB 2 /TiC and ZrB 2 /ZrC.
