Knoevenagel condensation of pyrazole aldehydes with malononitrile is selectively carried out using ammonium carbonate as mild, cheap, efficient and selective catalyst, in aqueous media at ambient temperature. This method is green and providing expeditious way for Knoevenagel condensation of pyrazole aldehyde.
