espanolLa pelicula de Jean-Luc Godard Alphaville (1965) propone, en clave poetica, una critica cultural de la modernidad capitalista. Sin separar el contenido de la critica de la forma creada para expresarla, la pelicula subvierte la clasificacion establecida de los “generos” cinematograficos y, por lo mismo, de los lenguajes cinematograficos. Reuniendo elementos de la imaginacion distopica, de la ciencia ficcion, del filme romantico y de otros “generos” cinematograficos, la obra constituye un lenguaje original que integra referentes tanto filosoficos (Nietzsche, Bergson) como poeticos (Eluard, Borges...) y altera las fronteras establecidas entre lo futuro y lo presente asi como entre lo de aqui y lo de alla. A diferencia de las distopias de Orwell y Huxley, muestra una forma de totalitarismo mas profunda, insidiosa, invisible y eficaz, que invade el presente de las sociedades llamadas “democraticas”. Se trata del totalitarismo de una configuracion del mundo dominada por una racionalidad meramente instrumental y por la hegemonia de la tecno-ciencia, que expulsan fuera de lo real el arte y el imaginario, lo poetico y lo posible, la emocion, los sentimientos y la gratuidad. El presente estudio analiza la construccion de esta forma original, cuyo contenido critico es interpretado en la perspectiva de Godard del pensamiento como ejercicio de mirar y como saber mirar. EnglishJean-Luc Godard’s Alphaville (1965) puts forward a cultural critique of modern capitalism in a poetic form. The film subverts the standard classification of cinematographic “genres” and of cinematographic languages, without separating the content of the criticism from its form of expression. Thus, it uses an original language that integrates both philosophical and poetic referents (Nietzsche, Bergson, Eluard, Borges), putting together elements from the dystopic imagination, the science fiction, the romantic film, and other cinematographic “genres”. Unlike Orwell and Huxley’s dystopias, Alphaville depicts a deeper, insidious, invisible and more efficacious form of totalitarianism that invades the so-called “democratic” societies. This type of totalitarianism is dominated by instrumental rationality and techno-science, which expel art and imagery, the poetic and the possible, emotion, feelings and everything that is free. This paper analyzes the construction of this original form and interprets its critical content from the perspective of Godard’s thought. It is an exercise of looking and knowing how to look.
