One of the most important goals of the Bologna Process (BP) is the guarantee of quality in citizens’ education. Be sure that this commitment to quality will be demonstrated only as a reality if it guarantees a teacher training that adequately meets this requirement. The reconfiguration of initial teacher training in the reforms implemented by BP in Portugal culminates with the publication of Decree-Law No. 43/2007, which announces important changes for the models that precede it. In this article, we present a critical reflection on contextual frameworks and legislative history of teacher training in Portugal, making an assessment of the changes brought by BP, focusing in particular Visual and Technological Education teacher training.
