The words “Francophone” and “Francophony” were first introduced to vocabulary in 1880 because of geographer Onesim Reclus. However, the wide spread use and acceptance of these words were realised after they have been used by Habib Burgiba, the president of Tunisia and by Leopold Sedar Senghor, the president of Senegal. Today, by the word francophony it is understood the culture of French speaking countries excluding France. In this article, the literature of these countries possessing different social structures and attitudes were examined briefly.
