The article aims to provide elements of analysis of the link between social and solidarity economy (SSE) and the socio-territorial development, based on an experience developed from the public university of Argentina, in coordination with SSE actors and public policies oriented towards this sector. In the first section we present our conceptual perspective on SSE and the empirical trajectories that form it, it also includes a summary of public policies for the SSE in the last decade. In the second section we debate on the articulation between SSE and socio-territorial development from a critical perspective, questioning the dominant notions of development and territory. Third, we briefly present the lines of action and progress from the university, how educational proposal of “trans/formation” in research, teaching and entailment with the society. The main idea of the article is that universities can play a strategic role in expanding and strengthening the field of SSE, in coordination with the actors of the field and comprehensive public policies sustained over time.
