Hoffa’s disease is an obscure cause of knee pain resulting from impingement and inflammation, with haemorrhagic and fibrous changes of the Hoffa fat pad probably due to acute or chronic repetitive microtrauma. The acute phase of the disease is charecterised by inflammation and at the chronic stag, ossification of the patellar pat occurs. The final status of the disease is an osteochondroma. Hoffa’s disease should be considered in the differential diagnosis of anterior knee pain.
