THE COOPERATIVE SECTOR IN COLOMBIA, A CRITICAL REFLECTION FROM SOUTHEAST TOLIMA

El presente articulo es de reflexion teorica. Su objetivo consistio en analizar el impacto del sector cooperativo en Colombia, a partir de un fundamento epistemologico. En su realizacion se tomaron en cuenta los resultados de la investigacion “Estado del arte del sector cooperativo en el Sur Oriente del Tolima en los municipios de Suarez, El Guamo, Saldana, Purificacion y Prado, para los anos 2003-2007. Se utilizo un enfoque cualitativo desde el metodo deductivo, toda vez que se hizo un analisis de la situacion que incluye el origen, evolucion y consolidacion del sector cooperativo en Colombia, para luego examinar el caso especifico en el Sur y Oriente del Tolima. Mas concretamente, se analizo el comportamiento de las variables: numeros de entidades del sector cooperativo versus numero de asociados. Los resultados dan claras evidencias de un decrecimiento en las cooperativas de trabajo asociados, pero la dinamica del sector cooperativo en el pais continua siendo representativa y muy prometedora. De superarse inconvenientes ligados al bajo nivel de formacion del cooperativismo que esta representado en la participacion en los organismos de control y vigilancia por parte de los asociados, el sector cooperativo en el Tolima, epicentro agricola de Colombia, volveria a tomar la relevancia de epocas pasadas. ABSTRACT This article is of a theoretical reflection approach. Its main aim is to analyze the impact of the cooperative sector in Colombia, based on an epistemological basis. In order to obtain the research results, some considerations were taken, such as: "State of the art of the cooperative sector in the South East of Tolima in the municipalities of Suarez, El Guamo, Saldana, Purificacion and Prado, for years 2003 - 2007 "In this construction methodology a qualitative approach was used with a deductive method, analysing the situation that includes the origin, evolution and consolidation of the Cooperative sector in Colombia, and then a specific case in the south and east of Tolima was examined. More exactly, the behavior of the following variables were analysed: number of cooperatives vs number of members. The results show a clear evidence of a decrease in the number of members. However the dynamics of the Cooperative sector in the country is very representative and highly promising. If some obstacles were overcome, linked to the low level of member cooperatives that participate in the control and supervision of organizations, the cooperatives in Tolima, one of the main agricultural centers of Colombia, would regain the leading position it had in the past.
