Family conceptualization has been modifi ed over time. In addition, it has been infl uenced by the social, economic, political, etc changes that have led to the appearance of new needs. Th erefore, social interventions made by social workers have also been modifi ed because of changes in the Society. Currently, situations of child maltreatment are detected caused by negligence or family’s lack of attention due to family dysfunctional situations in which abuse occurs involuntary. Th is chapter discusses social intervention with families based on an experience in a Center for Early Child Development and Care of Barcelona. Th e main purpose of interventions with families is to provide a facilitating means to promote the development of parental skills and, consequently, to modify family dynamics that are causing these situations.
