CONTEXT AND CONTENT. Order Rodentia, suborder Sciurognathi, superfamily Geomyoidea, family Geomyidae, subfamily Geomyinae, tribe Thomomyini, genus Thomomys. Thomomys is distinguished as follows: anterior surface of upper incisors smooth, occasionally with fine, indistinct groove near medial edge; M3 elliptical; small, narrow forefoot with small claws (Bailey 1915; Hall 1981).
