Learning ObjectivesDiscuss the role of routine early postoperative oral calcium and/or vitamin D supplementation in preventing symptomatic post‐thyroidectomy hypocalcemia. Describe the effect of treatment with a combination of oral calcium and vitamin D supplements on the risk of hypocalcemia in post‐thyroidectomy patients and its potential to facilitate early discharge.
