Cindy Hepfer is Head of Collection Management Services (technical services and collection development) at the Health Sciences Library (HSL) at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo. Previously she worked as a serials librarian at Baylor University and SUNY College at Brockport, as a reference librarian at SUNY College at Buffalo, and as a union list librarian at the Western New York Library Resources Council. A former chair of ALA’s Serials Section and a NASIG (North American Serials Interest Group) past president, Cindy remains active in both organizations and favors continuing education and program planning activities. She edited Serials Review for 16 years and the SISAC Newsletter for five. She also co-edited two volumes of Advances in Serials Management and has published articles and reports in Serials Review, Serials Librarian, Against the Grain, SISAC News, Library Software Review, and Serials. Cindy received ALA’s Bowker-Ulrich’s Award for Excellence in Serials Librarianship in 1997. At HSL, in addition to overseeing journal collection development, electronic resources, and technical services, she does serials cataloging and is a member of CONSER Enhance. After 16 years of editing evenings and weekends, she is delighted to finally be making time to enjoy her six cats and three dogs, her husband, and her son (a percussion performance major at the University at Buffalo).
