In the article contemporary practices of smell research and application in education are discussed. In first part theoretical background is presented. It covers the following themes: the concept of smellscape, approaches to smell in different historical periods and characteristics of smell perception. Then significance of smell education is revealed and the method of smellwalking is discussed as a contemporary method of smell education. After presenting and discussing the experience of smellwalking with adult students, smellwalking is defined as unique and innovative method for organizing adult learning, which creates possibility to develop new understanding of himself/ herself and the world through researching, analyzing and perceiving spaces with the sense of smell.
