Commentary: Dental avulsion is one of the most common traumatic injuries to teeth. In avulsion, the tooth is completely displaced from the alveolar bone socket. The treatment consists of re-plantation of the tooth into the socket and splinting. The prognosis of re-plantation depends on the existence of viable cells on the root surface, which necessitates immediate re-plantation, which is not always possible. The avulsed tooth can be stored in a physiologically ideal media before re-plantation. Various storage media have been investigated. Not a single media fulfills all the ideal requirements. This poster compares the efficiency of various storage media and their ease of access.
