For the contact calculus, the normal force between the teeth is considered to be applied in a point between the inner point of single tooth contact and the mid-point of the zone of contact, depending on the overlap ratio ενβ. In this paper the authors propose the introduction of a new factor in the calculus relation of the spiral bevel gears, named global geometric factor for contact stress Zg, which includes the factors that take into consideration the geometry of the spiral bevel gear. The analysis of this factor is performed considering the main geometrical parameters of the gear.
