The aim of this article is to reflect on the academic and social status of Children’s literature. In order to do so, the authors have carried out an analysis of the socio-cultural context surrounding this literature; a revision of the implications and scope of its classification as "children's," as well as current trends related to the topic. This study notes that these elements lead to some problems of definition in this discipline and, above all, a lack of clear conceptualization, motivated by the possible educational categorization of Children's Literature and its stereotyped vision imposed by society.
