One of the results left by the struggles from the USA sexual minorities stigmatized through AIDS, at the end of the twentieth century, was the new meaning of the word “queer”. Accordingly, this situation generated an academic theorizing that made visible certain power devices. In the present work we are going to look at some aspects related to power, as well as at the social construction of sexuality. From this, we will attempt to point out which kind of treatment is given to the word “queer”, in the novel Queer (1985) by William S. Burroughs
