Herein we report the first record of Megalechis picta in the upper Rio Paraná basin based in a single specimen captured in the Corumbá IV Reservoir, Rio Paranaíba drainage, State of Goiás, Brazil. Additional discussion about geographic distribution of congeners is also provided.
