Dendrophryniscus berthalutzae Izecksohn 1994 is known only from the vicinities of the type locality (Frost 2007). It was described based on a female from Joinville, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil (26o18' S, 48o50' W; ca. 300 m) and a male from Alto Palmeiras, municipality of Rio dos Cedros, state of Santa Catarina, Brazil (26o44' S, 49o16' W; ca. 80 m) (Izecksohn 1994). Posteriorly, the distribution of D. berthalutzae was extended to the northeastern region of the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil (see map at IUCN 2006).
