in the vicinities of the town of Mimoso do Sul (21o03'48" S, 41o23'23" W), state of Espirito Santo, Brazil. The species was identified due to its small size (18-20 mm), presence of whitish dorsolateral lines from the snout to the end of the body, and absence of dorsal longitudinal lines (Figure 1), which are diagnostic characters listed on the original description (Cruz et al. 2000). Voucher specimens were deposited in the Amphibian Collection of the Departamento de Zoologia, Universidade Federal do Rio de Janeiro, Rio de Janeiro, RJ, Brazil (ZUFRJ 10220-10230).
