Attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder is a risk factor of smoking and alcohol drinking in adolescence. Since attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder and smoking and alcohol drinking in adolescence are predictors for the development of substance use disorders in adulthood, it is important to understand the nature of these associations.
