Implementation of New Approaches to Water Resources Management in Ukraine

In Ukraine, a new approach to water resources management – that is, integrated water resources management according to the basin principles, is legally declared and reserved by law. However, in practice, water resources are managed mainly according to the administrative and territorial division, that leads to deterioration of ecological, economic and social components of functioning water facilities for providing water services. To solve this problem, it is important to introduce an appropriate institutional transformation. The new entity, which will help enhance water resources management, is a holding company.
