By describing Italy’s diplomatic alignment from 1929 to 1932, the author offers a comprehensive description of the European framework in the early postwar period, leading into the first tensions after the Wall Street crisis. Dino Grandi’s foreign policy during his time as Minister marked a turning point in the history of fascism in Italy and in its relations with Europe, which was on the brink of a new global conflict. The historic perspective presented is based not only on that of the main schools of historic thought regarding this subject, but also on an in-depth analysis of the evolving international policies devised by il Duce and their consequences on Italy, on Europe and on the colonial policy decisions undertaken by the regime in the following years.
