Христианская символика цветов в лирике В. В. Гофмана

The article deals with "love to the Distant" as the dominating idea of V. V. Hoffmann's stories. It is noted that Hoffmann, sharing V. Solovyov's idea about the earthly personification of Eternal Femininity, connected its search with the hero's self-iden-tification. It is emphasized that the result of the author and the hero's searching is disillusionment in the transforming power of Etern al Femininity. The consequence of it is the discredit of one of the basic symbolist myths.
