Determination of Population Development and Infestation Rates of Codling Moth [Cydia pomonella (L.) (Lep.: Tortricidae)] in Apple Orchards in Konya Province

This study has been conducted to determine population development and infestation rates of Codling moth ( Cydia pomonella (L.) (Lep.:Tortricidae) in Selcuklu, Meram and Karatay districts in Konya Province. During 2017-2018 years, two apple orchards were selected in each district. Pheromone traps were used to determine adult population development and infestation rates were detected by counting weekly infested and not-infested apple fruits after fruit set stage of tree. According to results, in all districts, adult population peaks were observed four and three times in 2017 and 2018 years, respectively. It was determined that, Codling moth can give in Konya province two-three generation depending on years and climate conditions. Flight period of codling moth adults in orchards started from second week of May and lasted end of October. Infestation rates were observed for 2017 and 2018 years in Selcuklu district 10.5% and 16.45%, in Meram district 21.3% and 30.15%; and in Karatay district 20.5% and 33.9%, respectively.
