This study aimed to describe the characteristics of psychological adaptation through Simon’s Scale of Adaptation-Revised (EDAO-R) and its relation to the life context of women served by the multidisciplinary residency program in the Multidisciplinary Clinic of Attention to Women's Health. Forty women aged 24 to 77 participated in the research. The EDAO-R consists of a quantitative and qualitative assessment of answers regarding the adaptation process. Data collection was carried out through semi-structured interviews in accordance with the methodology proposed by EDAO-R. Data analysis followed the criteria of the scale, considering the adequacy of the answers to the four sectors of life. The results indicated that more than half of the participating population showed severe or serious ineffective adaptation. We concluded that the high rate of psychiatric problems in women influences the low adaptive efficacy and frameworks crisis.
