The main aim of the present study was to examine the psychometric properties of the Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A) among a sample of institutionalized youths. Based on this sample (N = 221), the Portuguese version of the SAS-A demonstrated good psychometric properties, namely in terms of factor structure, internal consistency, convergent validity, and discriminant validity that generally justifies its use. Positive correlations were found with the empathy construct and negative correlations with Conduct Disorder diagnosis, cannabis use, and physical violence. Key- words - Assessment; Social Anxiety Scale for Adolescents (SAS-A); Adolescence
