The aim of this article is to analyze in a critic way the role of women in the gipuzkoan families during the Ancient Regime. The study of several cases, where some women were involved, allows depth in family structures, trying to insist on the variety of situations and on the importance of passions and feelings which affect the decisions and strategies establish into the relationship spheres. In order to that, apart from turn to the wide Spanish and Basque historiography, it has been used the jury documentation, from archives such as Real Chancellery of Valladolid or General Archive of Gipuzkoa.
