Birth of the Clinic has been one of the least commented texts of Michel Foucault. Indeed, published between two of the most famous works of the author, the book devoted to tracing the archeology of of medical perception was the subject of a very poor reception. Maybe it could pass for a smaller text, of little relevance in his career, without impact on the philosophical debate of his time and been deprived of intest for an actual approach. But against this prejudice, in this article, will consider the contribution of this work to design archaeological perspective, the scope and limitations of the philosophical position expressed there and the effect that the recent discussion on biopolitics has restored.
